Stafford and District Operatic Society

Musical Youth Theatre Stafford is the junior arm of Stafford and District Operatic Society, which has over 100 shows under its belt.

The first recorded meeting of the Society was held on Tuesday 21st November 1922 when twenty enthusiasts appeared at the Sheridan Hotel and on the 6th to 9th February 1924 the Society staged their first production at Stafford's Borough Hall (now the Gatehouse Theatre). Since then all but two shows have been presented at The Gatehouse Theatre. The main base for their rehearsals is John Wheeldon Primary School in Stafford.

Over the years the society has gone from strength to strength and always welcomes new members. The Society currently performs two full musicals a year in the Gatehouse Theatre as well as a number of concerts. The Society, all of whom are amateur performers, uses professional directors and musicians to produce high quality musicals as their contribution to the arts in Stafford and the surrounding area.

MYTS involvement

With such a wealth of young talent available, SDOS calls on the members of MYTS whenever children are required in their productions.

Last year, over 20 MYTS members performed in the King and I, while this year, over 30 were involved in the October production of Oliver!
